Nepali Dr Binod Kumar Sah named Turkey’s ‘doctor of the year’
Nepali Dr Binod Kumar Sah, a native of Golbajar in Siraha, has been awarded with the ‘Best doctor of the year’ award by the Turkish government in recognition for his services to child and infant health.
Sah had gone to Turkey after he was awarded with a scholarship to study MBBS in the year 2000. He had been employed at Ankara-based Lokman Hekim Hospital.
“Turkish government honoured me with the award after a medical survey they conduct each year,” said Sah during a telephone interview with The Post.
Sah, 32, had completed his lower secondary level education at Golbajar-based Janata Secondary School. He had appeared in the SLC examination from Saint Joseph School in Biratnagar. He had received the scholarship after completing his ISc from Amrit Science Campus.
Dr. Sah has plans to return Nepal and use his medical skills here. “I will go back to Nepal and practice my skills there,” he said.
He added that he was further encouraged by Nepali Ambassador to Pakistan Bharat Raj Paudel to work in Nepal. “Nepal government sent me to Turkey. I will return to Nepal and work in a government health institution there rather than doing a business.”
